Flaxseeds

They're a rich source of micronutrients, fibre, manganese, vitamin B1 and omega-3.  The reason why Omega-3 is important is it has been shown to lower the risk of heart disease, strokes and reduce inflammation.  Inflammation is now considered the initial underlying stage in disease in the body.  Flaxseeds are also proven to protect the liver.

Try flaxseeds in your oatmeal or smoothies.
