About Deborah

After a successful career in international, blue chip documentaries, I now practice nutrition in London - Marylebone and Barnes, SW London.

I am born and bred in New Zealand and grew up believing that if it came in a packet, it’s not food. I was raised with complementary medicine and have always been interested in the biochemistry of the body and how compounds in food interact with the 1000s of compounds in our body.

My successful 20+ year career in film making gave me the experience of working with high profile talent including David Attenborough, filming 3D in the Galapagos archipelago, co ordinated Ben Affleck into Sudan and Darfur for UNHCR, filmed with Lewis Hamilton on the Grand Prix Circuit and joined the director Davis Guggenheim (An Inconvenient Truth) filming Malala Yousafzai as she prepared for her UN speech in her living room.

My love of nutrition science kept me studying throughout my 30s and 40s, eventually qualifying with a Masters (Honours) in Holistic Nutrition. I qualified in 2016 and now practice in Barnes. I’m published and speak, having written for Aviation Life (high flyer magazine) and others.

My experiences in high challenging environments and global projects has led to an interest - staying well while sustaining high performance - which illustrates my clients who are often time poor and high achievers.

My special interest in men’s health started when I nursed my father through cancer in the final weeks and months of his life, and helped a partner through a prostate scare.

My Philosophy

My philosophy is about understanding how to work with your biology rather than against it so that you can feel your best and live your best life. I believe in a food first approach to provide your cells with the information that they need to thrive.

Food is cellular information to your body.

I’m interested in all things I’ve had to find solutions for myself. I was a frequent long haul flyer, pushing time zones, working extreme days and suffering stress and burn out which led to my interest in jet lag, circadian rhythms and resilience, allowing me to help corporate travellers stay well on the road and arrive in good shape.

I understand the pressures of life and how the stress and fatigue can lead to ill health.

Being a Kiwi, I am most happy being active outdoors. I’ve hiked a few mountains including the ridges of the Transylvanian Alps and used to be an avid runner and diver. These days you will find me on the tennis court.
